Sometimes, we just need time to take a getaway. We need a little time to ourselves, but our job or obligations don’t allow us to take extended periods of time away. Today, I want to talk about my Five Tips For Taking An Inexpensive Weekend Getaway.
Destination Is Key
A quick weekend getaway should consist of a destination that is a hop and skip away. This helps you maximize the time spent at the destination. Nobody wants to feel like they just got off the plane, and now they are hopping back on. You want to feel like you were there for a significant amount of time and enjoyed yourself. Pick a destination that is a short flight or drive away. Time off seems to be hard to come by. Adding an extra day on the weekend to take that much needed weekend getaway. That can give you enough time to get there.

Low-Cost Airlines Are Essential
When planning an inexpensive weekend getaway, low-cost airlines are going to be your best friend. Low-cost airlines are known for having super cheap fares and they get you from point A to point B. When you want to plan a quick trip away and you want it to be inexpensive, you need to make some sacrifices. Make sure you check for baggage fees or any other related fees associated with flying on low-cost airlines. They are known to nickel and dime people, but if you are prepared, it’s perfectly fine. I recommend checking Google Flights, Skyscanner, and Airfare Watchdog before booking a flight. After that, if you don’t find a fare within your price range, go to your local airport and check at the counters. It’s a fact that fares that you see online compared to counter fairs are significantly discounted. Some report fares as discounted as a penny.

You need to find something to do right? I recommend Groupon or CityPASS. CityPASS was designed to include a limited number of the most popular attractions, assuring a great experience that makes the most of every minute, without a ton of research needed. You can also go on Groupon and find discounted tickets for attractions and things to do.
If you want to save money and maximize on your weekend, book a vehicle via rental agency or Turo. I’ve found Turo to be a Godsend when it comes to getting around while I’m at my destination. The rentals are reasonably priced and you have a great selection from Mercedes, Tesla, and more. If you don’t feel comfortable with renting someone’s personal car, you can opt for rental from your local rental agency like Enterprise or Hertz. Lyft and Uber could be a better option for you if you plan to walk plenty of places. If you don’t plan on walking everywhere, UBER/LYFT can add up fast.
Booking Places To Stay
If you want cost-efficient ways to get away without spending top dollar, your need to utilize Airbnb, VRBO, HomeAway, or Agoda. All of these platforms provide places to stay for the cheap and have significantly more value than hotels or motels. Book a private room or a whole house, the cost will be significantly cheaper.
